Technologies commercialization centre

The Technologies Commercialization Centre is a structural subdivision of Moscow University of Industry and Finance established by a group of venture experts experienced in promoting Russian technologies and developments to an international level. 

The purposes of the Centre are:

  • To facilitate commercialization of the scientific research results and engineering developments of the leading higher educational institutions and research institutes based on Federal law №217-ФЗ “On amendments to specific statutes of the Russian Federation regarding the foundation of economic companies by scientific establishments and educational institutions to implement the results of intellectual activities”.
  • To create a system of independent evaluation of the commercial potential of domestic scientific research results and engineering developments.
  • To implement selected projects by means of transferring technologies to small innovative companies, incubate and seed-finance them.
  • To involve students and postgraduates in economics in the innovative process in Russia, contribute to setting up small innovative companies engaging young people.
  • To make an optimal use of University’s scientific, research and commercial resources including the resources of University’s departments, Economic Research Centre, Venture Factory and other structural subdivisions.

The Centre offers the following opportunities to its clients and stakeholders:

  • To higher education institutions and research institutes – to evaluate the potential of their research results and provide for the commercialization of the best of them.
  • To development engineers and scientists – to become co-founders of a small innovative company having a clear strategy of technology commercialization and a required seed capital.
  • To University’s students and postgraduates – to put to test their entrepreneurial skills and analytical capabilities by participating in real innovative projects (the most active participants will be able to become co-founders of small innovative companies).
  • To teachers – to get real business cases to teach a wide range of subjects: marketing, innovation management, project management, financial analysis and many others as well a mechanism to ensure a greater academic involvement of students.
  • To experienced entrepreneurs – to apply their capabilities and talent to a serious, carefully selected innovative project with a seed capital and an active and ambitious team.

The Centre’s team consists of highly skilled specialists in investment banking, venture capital investments and innovative projects management and has participated in international projects, the implemented ones including the VISUVI image search technology, the “Caribbean pirates II” cell phone game that ranked second in the sales ratings in the USA.

The Centre’s partners, i.e. technical higher education institutions and research institutes, marketing agencies, patent bureaus, venture capital funds and IT companies provide for continuous and dynamic commercialization of research results and developments from the laboratory stage to their industrial implementation.

The Centre cooperates actively with University’s students and teachers. The respective sections contain information on the forms and opportunities of such cooperation.
